My debut album as Dosimo, Beneath a Sky Called Home, is coming out on October 30th. It's a record I've spent the past two years writing and producing, during what has probably been the most significant period of change in my life.
I started writing the album while my partner Lisa and I were preparing for the birth of our daughter, Jamie. I continued working on it after she arrived, so in many ways the album has grown alongside our little family.
Becoming a father has changed how I look at almost everything. Your priorities change, and you start to appreciate parts of life that you might previously have taken for granted. I've found myself reflecting on the people, places and experiences that have shaped me, and everything that's brought me to where I am today.
That's really where the heart of the album comes from. It's about family, love, change, reflection and moving forward. There's a sense of looking back at the life you've lived while feeling excited about the one you're building.
I live on the east coast of Ireland, close to the sea and the River Boyne, and I think my surroundings have found their way into the music too. I spend a lot of time walking along the coast, taking in the changing weather, the light, the landscape and the atmosphere of the place. There's something about living beside the sea that gives you a sense of perspective. The album has become a kind of soundtrack to my surroundings, as well as to what's been happening in my life.
Musically, Beneath a Sky Called Home draws on a lifetime of influences. I've always loved the work of artists like DJ Shadow, UNKLE, Massive Attack, Portishead, RJD2 and The Avalanches. That combination of sampling, hip hop production, beautiful melodies, unusual sounds and cinematic arrangements has been a huge influence on how I approach music.
I've spent many years working as a composer, producer and sound designer, particularly in film and other visual media, and all of that experience has gone into making this record. There's a strong cinematic element running through it, alongside downtempo, trip hop, electronica, soul and orchestral music.
The album moves through quite a few different moods. There are moments of darkness and tension, but also plenty of warmth, hope and optimism. Some tracks have huge arrangements with layers of strings, instruments and samples, while others are much more intimate. I've always loved the way a simple melody or a small musical idea can gradually develop into something quite powerful.
There are twelve tracks on the album, and I've put a great deal of thought into how they sit together. It's very much a journey, and I think listening to it from beginning to end is the best way to experience it.
I've always loved albums that you can put on through a good pair of headphones, turn out the lights and completely disappear into. Records that take you somewhere without necessarily telling you where you're going. That's the kind of listening experience I wanted to create with Beneath a Sky Called Home. There's a lot to discover in the music, and I hope people enjoy getting lost in it.
Throughout 2026, I've released four singles from the album: Gone, Truth Hurts featuring J Fitz, Come Rain or Shine and Best Wishes. Each one introduces a different part of the record, but hearing them together in the context of the full album gives them another dimension.
I've also really enjoyed developing Dosimo on social media. It's become a place where I can share the music, talk about the creative process, tell stories from my life and occasionally have a laugh at the absurdity of things. I've been making videos about my experiences in music, sharing ideas, and generally chatting about whatever happens to be on my mind. It's been a lovely way to connect with people, particularly after spending so much time working away in the studio.
There's a lot more to Dosimo than simply putting music online, and I'm enjoying exploring that side of it. I've always had an interest in film, visual art and storytelling, so bringing those things together with the music feels quite natural.
I've also been preparing the album for vinyl. I've always loved the physical side of music, the artwork, the sequencing and the experience of sitting down to listen to a complete record. Getting the running times and arrangements right for each side has been another important part of finishing the album.
After two years of work, I'm incredibly proud of what I've made. It's a beautiful record, full of detail, emotion and atmosphere, and it represents a very special chapter of my life.
In a way, Beneath a Sky Called Home is about everything that brought me here, everything I've learned along the way, and the happiness of finding myself exactly where I want to be.
I'm delighted to finally share it.
