Ashes In The Delta · Baton Rouge, LA

● Editor's Note

Ashes In The Delta do exactly what they do best on 'Mirror Mirror': whatever they want. The Louisiana pair take an almost country turn into a grungy wannabe ballad, with a groove that refuses to let it be sad, joined by Chris Mullins on organ and Win'AB on keys.

Ashes in the Delta's new single "Mirror Mirror" does exactly what Ashes in the Delta does best: whatever they want! The new song takes an almost country-like turn into a grungy wannabe ballad that's just got so much groove to it, it can't be sad. Accompaniment for the new song was also done by fellow Release Club members Chris Mullins on Organ and Win'AB on Keys.
● The Interview

How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard you before, and what makes it undeniably you?

Southern Grunge Rock with a twist.

What's the story behind the music you're releasing right now? Where did it come from emotionally?

We write narratively and metaphorically, and we've been doing it so long it's become intuitive. A little darkness, a little love, and trying not to take ourselves too seriously.

What genre do you officially claim, and what genre do you secretly belong to?

We claim Southern Grunge Rock. Mark secretly claims Folk and Josh is all metal all the time.

Do you make music better alone or with other people in the room?

Always together.

How do you know when a song is finished, and have you ever gone back and changed something you thought was done?

We know a song is finished when we are both nodding our heads and can't think of anything else to add.

How has your city, background, or culture shaped the music you make?

We were both southern Cajun and country kids trying not to be that way, but it turns out that's what we are.

In five years, what do you hope people say when your name comes up?

That our music is unique and strange and they love it.
