Love observed closely and sung plainly: Chris Morris writes the affairs of the heart from Trinidad and Tobago, turning the uncertainty of a relationship into reggae.
How would you describe your sound to someone who has never heard you before, and what makes it undeniably you?
This song is about a woman constantly leaving a man and returning after some months, so he feels like he is living with a ghost. I love writing and singing about love and affairs of the heart.
What's the story behind the music you're releasing right now? Where did it come from emotionally?
Just observing situations in relationships and expressing them through my music.
Is there a lyric or line in your upcoming release that you're most proud of? What does it mean to you?
I can't love a ghost, is my favorite line in the song. It means that you can't put your heart in someone who is playing with love.
What do you want listeners to feel when they first press play, and what do you want them to feel when it ends?
The emotional trauma of the uncertainty of a relationship like that.
If your music were a place, what would it look like, smell like, feel like?
The Caribbean, sunny, lots of mountains and beaches.
What genre do you officially claim, and what genre do you secretly belong to?
Reggae, pop reggae.
Tell us about the song itself. What is its name, and what inspired the idea behind it?
The name of this song is "Ghost" and I created it to fit in with the Halloween celebration. Just making it from an angle of a frustrated man in a relationship with a woman that seems to go nowhere.
"I make electronic music because I love how it makes me feel."
"Not a lover's betrayal, but the universe itself taking off the mask."
